Adisa in '1968: The Year That Never Ended'

renaissance one presents a new spoken word show and England tour in 2009 and 2010 featuring performance poet ADISA

The tour has travelled extensively to festivals and venues and culminated on 16 February 2010 at The Pit, Barbican Centre.

Mixing poetry, commentary, monologue, and with music by special guest RANDOLPH MATTHEWS, the show explores one of the most profound years of the 20th century - 1968 - and it’s relationship to now.

Drawing on the themes of Revolution and Leadership, the show explores the voices and movements of 68, drawing inspiration from the Folk, Reggae, Soul, Afrobeat and Pop music of the time.

Adisa explores the power of the collective voice and its effect on politics, religion, culture and artistic expression.

"Adisa is the future. It's so good to have something to look forward to" Benjamin Zephaniah

ABOUT ADISA Adisa is a favourite on the spoken word and performance poetry scenes. He has performed widely – from music and literature festivals to pubs, from Buckingham Palace to schools, theatres and day centres for senior citizens. Following the tour, Adisa and Executive Producer Melanie Abrahams will be collaborating with experienced education facilitator Robert Henson in summer 2010 to develop an Education Pack for secondary school pupils that builds on the show and the themes within it of leadership, collective action and finding your own voice.
